ICE Cubes Service is a way for your cool experiment or technology to fly onboard the international Space Station in the most simple and cost-effective way. We are a team of experienced space payload experts who have supported many flights of European Space Agency research experiments and we believe more people should have access to flight opportunities. Please visit the Overview page for more details about the ICE Cubes Facility and the Experiment Cubes.
The ICE Cubes Facility is a powerful experiment platform that offers flexibility to host many form factors of Experiment Cubes. During flight, users are able to have near real-time telemetry and telecommanding capabilities with the Experiment Cube from any location with an internet connection.
Doing your experiment in space is awesome but expensive flight and complicated space agency processes kept alot of bright ideas like yours on the ground. ICE Cubes Service is here to change that.Your experience will be simple because we take care of interfaces with the space agency.

Your cost will be low because you can use commercial components exploiting the most advanced technologies.

Your development process will be quick because you will be the developer. Of course, we are here if you need any help.

Your experiment will be done correctly because you will be in the operator’s seat!

We think that our facility and service is particularly suited for raising the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of components, micro-gravity scientific research and STEM education. Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) can be adopted in applications of opto-electronics, micro-electronics, chemistry, biotechnology / bioengineering, tools manufacturing, etc. Microfluidic lab-on-a-chip devices can be used in cell, molecular, plant biology / microbiology, pharmaco-chemical research applications.
Of course, this is not everything so we’d love to hear about your ideas and research goals! Please send us an email at icecubes@spaceapplications.com or tell us on the Your Experiment page.

Our standard service is the end-to-end experiment development and flight process as illustrated in the Your Roadmap page We are available to provide you with additional assistance during payload development. Please contact us at icecubes@spaceapplications.com and let us know how we can help!

You are welcome to choose amongst the standard form factors as illustrated in the Overview page or you can propose a customized form factor. Of course, the feasibility of your custom form factor will depend on any overlap with other experiments.

The service will launch Experiment Cubes approximately every 3 or 4 months.

The service will initially need one year from the signature of the contract to the certification of the Experiment Cube or flight readiness. A shorter period of 9 months is the target.

The basic mission of an Experiment Cube will last for one month. Longer missions can be accommodated based on pre-agreed utilization plan.

First, please tell us about your experiment and research goals by writing to icecubes@spaceapplications.com or by visiting the Your Experiment page Then, we will contact you to see how we can help you fly!
